The weather in Porto Alegre
Four seasons, a damp winter, a hot summer, and storms that mean it. Bring a coat.
Porto Alegre is the only Brazilian capital with a real winter.
The pattern

Summer (Dec–Mar): 30–38°C, humidity, storms, and heat you cannot ignore. Do not take an apartment without air conditioning. You will not survive without one.

Autumn: the gentle season. Light, warm, good for the orla.

Winter (Jun–Aug): 5–18°C, rain, wind off the water, and no central heating. Often colder inside than outside.

Spring: pollen, sudden heat, sudden cold. The worst season if you have allergic rhinitis.
What to pack
A real coat. A light jacket is not enough in July. An umbrella that will open in the wind; have two.
